Using our expertise in the synthesis of custom molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) for specific molecular recognition we can:

  • Develop systems for drug detection in vapours
  • Develop molecular recognition systems for rapid detection of a range of targets (including hormones, antibiotics, ketosis and other disease states) at point of care

Result
Developing a smoke detector prototype with industry partners to detect illicit drug use. Helping industry apply this as a data and IoT solution in New Zealand housing sector.

What we’re doing
Developing a molecular recognition system for circulating proteins present in colorectal cancer tissue, but not normal colon tissue, as diagnostic biomarkers.

Result
Protein biomarker candidates are now being used to develop a low-cost finger prick blood test for screening before symptoms arise.
